Characters are an important component in worldbuilding as they bring the story to life whilst creating a bond between their world and the audience, captivating the reader through their personalities, design and journeys. This world is no different.
To make the characters believable in a more immersive experience, the details of their personalities are showcased through the various artifacts provided. Whether it’s their actions and reactions displayed within the extracts of Grimoire Anima Mea and Symposium Peccatum or even their handwriting and their way of speech in the physical written letters, every single character has their own unique personalities that tie into their sin and their role within the story itself. Their original Sin dialects were also incorporated into their writing to further immerse the audience within their world, acting as a “secret message” of sorts that could be decoded if so desired.
Through the juxtaposition between a cute, clean style and the more rough and sketchier approach of the other, the dichotomy of this world was showcased through the characters’ designs, illustrating the contrast between their facade versus the sin that lies within them. Inspired by various mythological stories and beings, their grotesque forms are the epitome of the sins within them, encompassing elements of the story, and the role they play within it, which further creates a bond with the audience and helps to showcase each aspects of the world itself.
